Home Automation System/2
Version 0.9 Beta 1
COPYRIGHT (c) 1997, Dennis Caffi
The Home Automation System/2 allows you to set up the CP290 X-10 Home Control
Interface. This program is a PM based application. This is a beta release of the
software. Feel free to distribute this program to anyone or any site that you feel might
find this program useful.
Installation:
The following files make up the Home Automation System/2:
home.exe
home.log
home.ico
home.ini
You can copy these files to the directory of your choice. Open the settings
notebook for the program icon and make sure the Program tab path and file
name are set to where you moved the program files.
Using Home Automation System/2:
When you first start the program, you should set the base house code and
communications port. The base house code will allow you to control the modules
with the same house code from the rocker switches on the cp290 control unit.
The program will save these settings in the "home.ini" file.
A log file by the name "home.log" is created in the current directory each
time you start the program. This file contains the entries that appear in the
program window.
Please be patient when querying settings or setting timer events. The cp290
communicates at only 600 baud. Download time for the events increases with
the number of events that are set.
Menu items:
File
Exit - exit program.
Settings
Set Basecode - Set the base house code and the communications port.
These values are stored in the home.ini file so you only
need to set this once unless you need to change the
base house code. The new values will replace what is in the
home.ini file.
Set Clock - Sets the clock in the cp290 control interface using the PC time.
Product Information - displays information about the product.
Query
Time - gets the time from the cp290 control interface.
Events - Lists all 128 events stored in the cp290 control interface.
Actions
Direct - Used to turn on, off, or dim a single module.
Events - Used to set timer events. The dialog sets one event at a time with
input obtained from spin buttons in the event dialog.
